Matt is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and has been in Nashville for five years. He has worked at Bishop’s for two years, and during this time, he has started attending cosmetology school at The Beauty Institute while working as a Service Advisor on the front desk. Matt says that working on the front desk while being in cosmetology school has given him an upper hand over people who leave school with no experience in a salon. He has been able to watch stylists employ new techniques with their clients, and then he practices them at school. He is also attending training classes with Mitzi, and he regularly attends hair shows and Aveda classes. Matt’s experience in the salon and in school has highly prepared him for success at a stylist at Bishop’s. He anticipates completion of his program and licensure in August and is excited to begin his career as a stylist.
